One AP writer has a giant surprise with his College Football Playoff prediction

That's an interesting pick.

Well this is an interesting pick.

Ralph Russo of the Associated Press released his predictions for this upcoming season, which included his prediction for the College Football Playoff. His pick included a lot of what some people have: the SEC (Alabama) and ACC (Florida State) champs in, but it's his other two picks that garner real interest: Ohio State and UCLA.

Ohio State isn't that surprising of a pick. A lot of people are picking them to win the Big Ten, even if there are concerns about if they can replace all of the talent they lost in the NFL Draft.

The UCLA pick is super interesting, though. The Bruins definitely have potential to win the Pac-12, and many think quarterback Josh Rosen could be a surprise Heisman Trophy candidate. However, UCLA did lose five games last year, so picking them to become a Playoff contender is definitely a risk.

Russo eventually has Florida State winning the entire Playoff and taking home their second national title in the past four seasons.
