The 2 Biggest Winners From Texas A&M's Gator Bowl Victory

No. 19 Texas A&M capped off a great first season under head coach Jimbo Fisher after dropping a 50-burger on the NC State Wolfpack in the Gator Bowl on New Year's Eve. The 52-13 rout was the Aggies' first bowl win since 2014 and it was done in epic fashion.

Better yet, the Aggies finished the season with a 9-4 overall record. This is time they eclipsed the eight-win mark since 2013.

Although this was a great win for the program and the future of Aggie football, there were two people that obviously benefited the most from this victory.

1. Trayveon Williams

Williams had a Gator Bowl record-setting game with 236 yards on 19 carries and broke a 30-year Texas A&M record for most rushing yards in a season at 1,760. In addition, he passed former Aggies running back Cyrus Gray for the single-season all-purpose yards total with 2,038 yards this season.

Williams put together the perfect highlight reel for the NFL scouts with this game. He showed off both his power to break tackles and run inside, and his ability to break away for long runs. His body of work in this game, coupled with how consistent he has played this season, has his NFL stock at an all-time high. If he is interested in forgoing his senior year, he would definitely be striking while the iron is hot.

2. Jimbo Fisher

Coach Fisher got exactly what any first-year coach would have wanted: a winning season capped off by a blowout bowl game victory. The Aggies are back on the scene after winning nine games, including a classic seven-overtime thriller against LSU at the end of the regular season. This game has also created a new rivalry game for the Aggies that will surely be a primetime game again next season. The Aggies are back on the national stage and things are only going to get better. Texas A&M also has the third-best recruiting class in the country and a group of players that have already bought into Fisher's system. He has given the fan base a lot to be excited for next season and for the rest of the SEC to be nervous.
