After massive layoffs, ESPN has one coach at the top of their hire list

This would be a difficult get.

ESPN just laid off a ton of talent, but it looks like their human resources department already has big ideas for who they want to hire in the future.

According to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated, "there is no current coach ESPN would love to hire more than" Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Of course, Saban agreed to a new extension with Alabama on Tuesday, and the deal is expect to keep Saban in Tuscaloosa through 2024. That said, it looks like as soon as Saban's coaching career is over, ESPN is planning to toss a big sum of money his way.

ESPN's college football coverage has been littered with former coaches over the past two decades, as Lee Corso, Lou Holtz, and even Steve Spurrier have been major personalities on Saturday for the network. However, all of those would pale in comparison to being able to bring in a guy like Nick Saban, as Saban has been lording over college football over the past decade with four Crimson Tide national titles.
