Alabama's Next Star Defender Doubles as Dangerous QB

When Lanett High School superstar Kristian Story suits up for the Alabama Crimson Tide next season, nobody is expecting him to play quarterback. The four-star athlete is actually expected to play on the other side of the ball, but it's safe to say head coach Nick Saban has a nice backup plan in Tuscaloosa just in case.

In Lanett's 41-21 win against Isabella in the Alabama Class 1A quarterfinals in November 2019, Story dazzled. He threw for 301 yards and four touchdown passes while adding in two more rushing scores, according to The six total touchdowns was obviously impressive in a state playoff game that Friday night, but they were also significant.

With 166 career touchdowns, Story officially set the AHSAA career record for touchdowns, passing Auburn freshman quarterback Bo Nix's touchdown record of 161, which he set in the state title game the year before.

With Tua Tagovailoa off to the NFL after his injury, Alabama football will have a three-player battle between Mac Jones, Taulia Tagovailoa and five-star commit Bryce Young for the team's starting quarterback job at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Although Kristian Story is projected to be a defensive back at the NCAA college football level, having a state record for most touchdowns in Alabama high school history is rather amazing.
