Eddy Pineiro (6-foot-0, 180 pounds, ASA College Miami), otherwise known as the nation’s No. 1 placekicking prospect, has finally decided where he will attend college. On the same day Pineiro announced his verbal decommitment from Alabama, he confirmed on Tuesday evening where he’d be playing his college ball next season.
This is a huge win for Jim McElwain and company, as the Gators are in desperate need of a placekicker. Usual starter Austin Hardin has made just 5-of-14 field goal attempts this season. Florida signed dental student Neil MacInnes the week before the Georgia game in October, but he’s seen limited reps, and will be out with an injury for the bowl game in January.
I think fans will get even more excited for Pineiro after seeing this video of him nailing a 77-yard yard field goal earlier this month.
