Watch Jalen Hurts throw his first TD as Alabama's QB

Well the Blake Barnett/Cooper Bateman era didn't last very long for Alabama. After Nick Saban stated the Tide would go with the duo of Barnett and Bateman at quarterback for Alabama to start the season, many wondered why true freshman Jalen Hurts was being left out of the discussion.

Well after the Tide started flat and showed no signs of life with Barnett under center it was Hurts, not Bateman, that Saban turned to. After fumbling away his first snap, Hurts settled down and eventually hit ArDarius Stewart downfield for a 39-yard touchdown pass to give the Tide the lead, 7-3.

Afterwards the Tide bench was clearly ignited behind Hurts, who may have won the starting job in one play if the Tide bench has any say.

It didn't take long for Hurts to hit Stewart again, hitting him for TD pass of 71 yards on the Tide's first possession of the second half.

Currently the Tide lead USC 24-3 in the third quarter.

Update: Alabama would go on to crush USC, 52-9.
