Florida flips three-star JUCO cornerback from Arkansas late on NSD

The flip comes after Bret Bielema made some questionable comments about Florida's recruiting tactics.

Florida's 2016 recruiting class got a nice, relatively late addition to its 2016 recruiting class on National Signing Day. JUCO cornerback Joseph Putu (6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Providence, RI.) sent in his letter of intent to Jim McElwain and Florida on Wednesday afternoon, as one of the final members of Florida's 2016 class.

The timing of all this is nothing short of humorous, and interesting — shortly after Putu was announced to be heading to Florida, Bielema issued comments about Florida that appeared seemingly accusatory. Bielema said Florida was "a little bit like 'the new Ole Miss'" in terms of recruiting. This is pretty convenient timing giving the NCAA's recent investigation of Ole Miss football, which includes recruiting violations.

McElwain has since said he has "no idea" what Bielema is talking about, but the timing of Bielema's comments and Putu's flip is certainly interesting.

Florida's 2016 class is the No. 13 class in the country, according to 247Sports, and it looks like it'll stay that way for now. Be sure to follow all things #NSD2016 with our live, National Signing Day page by following this link. FanBuzz will continue to keep you updated all day.
