Bad news emerges from Auburn's offensive coordinator hunt

Auburn's Rhett Lashlee left for UConn last week.

This could get messy for the the Auburn Tigers.

The reason why? Per an AL.com report, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and "those with influence over the program" can't reach an agreement on who the school should be hiring to its currently vacant offensive coordinator position. Per the report, Malzahn has been looking at names like FAU offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, Arizona State offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and North Carolina State offensive coordinator Eliah Drinkwit.

However, donors within the program reportedly want to go after more experienced coaches, including former Auburn and current Texas A&M coordinator Noel Mazzone and former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich.

ESPN reported on Saturday, though, that the school is expected to hire Lindsey, which would seem to indicate that Malzahn was able to hire one of the guys he was targeting. Lindsey previously worked with Auburn in 2013.
