Florida likely without its best defensive lineman and several others vs FSU

The injury bug has hit Florida at the worst possible time — the week the Gators are playing their biggest rival in Florida State. First-year head coach Jim McElwain met with the media on Monday morning and sounded defeated when listing off the injuries for this weekend. Florida has a whopping 11 players on the injury list — two of them being the most talented in the front seven in Alex McCalister and Jonathan Bullard. Bullard is hands down Florida’s best interior defensive lineman. McCalister injured his foot against South Carolina and will still be out. McElwain’s full quote about injuries from his weekly presser is below. Spoiler alert — it doesn’t sound good on the injury front, especially within the front seven on defense, as stated above.

“This is the first time we’ve kind of been through this of this magnitude. [Alex] McCalister will still be out, Taven Bryan will probably be out, [Jonathan] Bullard, Jordan Sherit. We should know on Martez Ivey today, but he would be highly questionable. Joey Ivie, we’ll see if he can get through this week, that would be probably questionable to doubtful. Brandon Powell on his foot, Antonio [Morrison] I think he will probably be probably right now. We’ll see as the week goes on.

David Sharpe, probably quesitonable, Caleb Brantely should be back, I put him on the probable sheet, Cam Dillard with the leg is questionable. That being said we wil have enough guys to run out of the tunnel to form a team in this ballgame.”

Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports took the liberty of compiling it all in one handy list.
