Five-star QB Justin Fields reportedly giving one school a surprise visit

This came out of nowhere.

Justin Fields recently spoke about how several other schools may be in the running for him outside of his top three of Florida State, Georgia and Auburn. LSU was one of those schools that was still in constant communication and it looks like it has paid off. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports is reporting that Fields will be taking a visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.

The country's top overall recruit and top dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2018 could be rethinking some of his top schools as the QB situations have changed already after one week of the season. And LSU has a pretty advantageous situation for Fields as Danny Etling will be gone and he could legitimately compete right away to become the starter.

Florida State in particular is seeing big change since Deondre Francois is likely coming back for another season after his devastating injury will keep him sidelined the rest of the year. Georgia is playing Jake Fromm earlier than it expected after Jacob Eason's injury and Fromm will be there two more years regardless of how well he plays. Auburn probably has the best situation out of his original top three with Jarrett Stidham set to graduate or leave before either of the guys at FSU or Georgia.

Fields's father recently told 247Sports "LSU never stopped communicating," through the entire process and that is likely what got them the visit this weekend. They play UT-Chattanooga, which should be a win and create a great atmosphere for Fields' visit.
