Kim Mulkey's Ed Orgeron Impression Proves LSU is Her Home

The LSU Tigers sent shockwaves throughout the women's college basketball world when it hired head coach Kim Mulkey away from Baylor, and it appears she's already well-versed in Coach O speak.

The three-time national champion (as a head coach) met the head coach of the LSU football team on campus Monday hours before her introductory press conference. Donning a purple jacket and high heels, she delivered a nifty Ed Orgeron impression to his face.

How'd she do?

"Coach O! How you doin' man?" Mulkey yelled out in a raspy voice as she approached him.

We can't tell if he thought it was a good impression, but Orgeron was fired up to welcome her to Baton Rouge.

"What's up coach?" Orgeron said. "Welcome home. It's nice to see you. I've got a lot of respect for you."

Mulkey, who was a star basketball player at Hammon High School and Louisiana Tech (where she won two national championships), told Coach O about the time she drove through Cut Off, Louisiana. It's right next to his hometown of Larose.

"I said, "naw I need to turn my ass around. I'm about to fall into the Gulf out here,'" Mulkey recalled. "Isn't that where you're from?"

"Yes ma'am," the 59-year-old Coach O replied.

"Don't you ma'am me I'm younger than you!" she snapped. She's 58.

Mulkey was already a women's basketball legend before she was named the LSU women's basketball coach. She was the first person in NCAA women's history to win a national title as a player, assistant coach and head coach. She also won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. She won three national championships with Baylor and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

No stranger to the purple and gold, Mulkey was previously married to former LA Tech quarterback Randy Robertson and had a son named Kramer Robertson.

Kramer was a First-Team All-SEC shortstop for the Tigers in 2016 and now plays in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. They also had a daughter named Makenzie who played college basketball at Baylor under her mom.

Hopefully, Mulkey can turn around things at LSU. It looks like she's fitting in well already judging from her Coach O impression. I just wished she would have said "Go Tigahs!"
