Jacob Gilliam is trying to make an improbable comeback, and it would be awesome if he did

In the biggest surprise of the day, Jacob Gilliam was jogging at practice today even though he tore his ACL four weeks ago.

That’s not supposed to happen, people. An ACL injury is a death sentence for your season, usually. But Gilliam, the left tackle walk-on who earned his way to a scholarship, is trying to make the impossible possible.

Gilliam tore his ACL in the first game of the season on Aug. 31, which also happened to be his first start in a Tennessee uniform.

Butch Jones spoke after practice on Tuesday and didn’t rule Gilliam out for the year.

If Gilliam comes back, this would be one of the best comeback stories in recent memory. Best wishes to Jacob Gilliam.
