Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart and coach Butch Jones have had contract “conversations” recently and they say they are reworking Jones’ current contract. That contract was redone last year to give Jones a raise to pay his assistants and was extended through 2020.
“Butch and I communicate — as we do with all of our coaches — on a very regular basis,” Hart said Tuesday inside Tennessee’s Ray and Lucy Hand Digital Studio. “We’ve already opened those conversations, and we’ll continue to have those conversations.”
Jones has also made it clear that Tennessee is where he wants to be and that his family loves it in Rocky Top. So it definitely sounds like the two sides can come to some sort of agreement and keep Jones on campus for even longer. He’s already hauled in some top ten recruiting classes and the momentum isn’t slowing up any time soon.
