The Chick-fil-A kickoff event each year has featured some prominent matchups like 2008’s Clemson-Alabama game, 2011’s Boise State-Georgia tilt, and this past year’s Alabama-West Virginia game. Now the Tennessee Volunteers will get a chance to show their stuff in a big-time college football kickoff event, but they’ll have to wait a couple years as they aren’t expected to play in it until 2017. The opponent is going to be the ACC’s Georgia Tech who will finally have a marquee game in their own backyard in the Georgia Dome where the Atlanta Falcons play.
Each game has featured a school from the SEC or ACC, with many of the contests having representatives from each conference more often than not. The 2015 contest will take place between Louisville and Auburn while 2016 will feature Georgia and North Carolina.
