The AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game named their honorary captains for the Sept. 5 showdown between Texas A&M and Arizona State. The Aggies will be represented by former Aggie and current Houston Texan Shane Lechler.

Lecher, who left the program back in 2000, was a two-time All-American and a three-time first team All-Big 12 selection during his time at A&M. Since he’s hit the NFL, he’s gone on to enjoy a pretty good career by anyone’s standards. Lechler currently holds the all time mark for yards per punt with 47.5 and was the fastest player in NFL history to reach 50,000 yards punting in his career.

When Texas A&M takes the field next Saturday, the Aggies are hoping the presence of their former star punter will help lead them to victory against the Sun Devils.
