After a great collegiate career, Trayveon Williams made the best choice he could have regarding his football future by foregoing his senior season at Texas A&M and entering the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Aggies are coming off of a great inaugural season with their new head coach, Jimbo Fisher, and with a winning season, including an historic seven-overtime victory over LSU and a Gator Bowl blowout win over North Carolina State. Williams was a huge part of Coach Fisher's initial success.
Add that with the third-ranked recruiting class and the Aggies are on fire right now. It's the perfect time to leave while you're on top and there hasn't been more excitement in College Station since Johnny Football.

In addition to the team's success, Williams has had a stellar season of his own. He is the program's third-leading rusher of all time with 3,615 yards in his three seasons. He led the SEC in rushing this year with 1,524 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season and earned First-Team All-SEC honors.
It was reported on numerous occasions that Fisher thought Williams needed to touch the ball a lot for the Aggies to be successful and committed to giving him the ball 20-plus times per game.It's the same way Fisher featured Dalvin Cook at Florida State. and these opportunities helped lead to a productive season for Williams.
At 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds, some people thought Williams would be too small for the NFL and not be durable enough to last. Not only has he proven that he's durable, he has also been able to show that he's a good pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield.
The other reason that make it a good decision for Williams to head out now is that the Aggies are losing critical pieces of their offensive line with Texas A&M junior center Erik McCoy also announcing that he will forgo his redshirt senior season and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. They are also losing tight end Jace Sternberger, who is also a great blocker on the edges.
The Aggies will be fine next season, but it would have been nearly impossible for Williams to duplicate his success this season. However, he will definitely be playing on Sundays and will always have the memory of helping to put Aggie football back on the map.
