Sports Science compared a former Oregon player to a Sherman tank

That sounds like a heck of an athlete to us!

Even for a defensive lineman, DeForest Buckner is big. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder out of Oregon was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by San Francisco in this year's NFL Draft, and Buckner has the physical abilities to really wreak havoc at the next level.

How much havoc, exactly? Well, according to ESPN's Sports Science, somewhere between the havoc of a bighorn ram and an M4 Sherman tank.

The science guys put Buckner to work in a deflection drill, where Buckner had to make a block on a sled, and then attempt to deflect a pass. With the force that Buckner was generating on the block, and the coverage he was making by deflecting passes over 11-feet in the air, Buckner gained comparisons with the aforementioned ram and tank.

I don't know about you, but if I were looking for good defensive prospects, "ram" and "tank" make good descriptors for a lineman.

Buckner had 10.5 sacks and 17.0 tackles for loss in his final season at Oregon. He was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, and was a first-team All-American.
