Promising details about the next Assassin's Creed begin to surface

It's been more than a year since the last release.

It's been over a year since the last release of the Assassin's Creed franchise, and fans have already begun to miss the series' previously incessant games. Yet the next installment may be closer than we realize, according to a report published recently by WWG.

According to their article, the next Assassin's Creed is set to feature a playable duo from the original assassin's guild; a man and a woman who, once again, will be featured as the story's central protagonists. The setting is apparently ancient Egypt this time around, though rumors suggest that the story will carry over into neighboring regions as far away as Greece.

Other interesting details include information about the scope of the game, which sources reveal to be the largest Assassin's Creed title so far. Evidently it's been in development since long before the series' hiatus from the gaming scene, according to WWG's anonymous source.

The upcoming title will also feature a return of naval combat - a favorite from previous installments, which previously have been set along the coast of colonial America and the length of the Caribbean.

Though encouraging, promising rumors like these are only to be expected. Without the strain of having to release regular titles for the Assassin's Creed franchise, it's only natural for the next big installment to benefit from a longer period of development.

Currently there's little indication that the phantom Assassin's Creed title will be released anytime soon, although there was mention of an internal video circulating Ubisoft that teases more details. Whether or not it will be released for the public however remains to be seen.
