Former champion pro wrestler passes away at 65 WWE Network

According to multiple reports on social media, former American Wrestling Alliance (AWA) tag team champion “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers has passed away. He was 65.

Cause of death for Somers was not immediately apparent.

Somers had his heyday in wrestling back in the 1980s with the AWA, where he was a two-time tag team champion, once with “Playboy” Buddy Rose and once with Soldat Ustinov. He is also a two-time heavyweight champion, once winning the NWA Western States heavyweight title, and one winning the AIWF heavyweight title.
