The UFC could be rocked by a drug allegation facing one of its biggest stars

Bad news for UFC.

The UFC released a statement on Friday evening, stating that they had been informed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) of a potential anti-doping violation by star fighter Brock Lesnar. The potential violation stems from a June 28 test, but the UFC was not informed of the result until July 14.

Lesnar (6-3) defeated Mark Hunt (12-11) at UFC 200 on July 8 in a three-round unanimous 29-27 decision. It was Lesnar's first fight since a 2011 loss to Alistair Overeem, as Lesnar retired soon after the loss to deal with diverticulitis. Since then, Lesnar has been with WWE, and he is currently scheduled to perform at WWE Summerslam in August against Randy Orton.

Lesnar had been given an exception for the fight, as USADA usually requires a fighter to be under their testing program for four months before fighting. Even with the exception, Lesnar was reportedly being tested multiple times a week — per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer — since his fight was originally announced in early June.

If the violation is confirmed, then this would be devastating to both Lesnar, UFC, and WWE. Lesnar looked great at UFC 200, and he could have potentially been gunning for the UFC heavyweight title. UFC could lose one of their biggest draws if Lesnar is suspended, and UFC and WWE both have to deal with the negative publicity of a positive test.
