Did ESPN just tip their hand on next week's College GameDay location?

This would make sense...

Well this got some fans riled up.

ESPN's College GameDay is in Times Square this week, which is a bit of a bummer for schools that could have potentially hosted the TV show. However, GameDay is scheduled to return back to campuses next week, and some people were sent into a frenzy on Thursday when ESPN's Chris Fowler said that he planned to be in Blacksburg for Virginia Tech vs. Clemson next week.

Of course, that tweet drew the attention of the Virginia Tech account, which replied with this:

Clemson and Virginia Tech is already scheduled to be the 8PM ABC game, which already made it a logical contender for GameDay since Fowler usually calls those games with GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit. The key term there is "usually", as Fowler — who is no longer the host of College GameDay — said that he was not speaking on behalf of the ESPN show, but instead as part of the regular TV broadcast for the game.

To go along with that, Herbstreit has often done College GameDay in the morning and then chartered a flight to another location for the late ABC game.

The only major competition for next week's GameDay comes in the form of the USC and Washington State game in Pullman. GameDay has never been to Pullman despite their fans campaigning for nearly 14 years via their waving of the team's flag at every GameDay location.
