Paul Finebaum takes stab at Jim Harbaugh after Jim McElwain hiring

Paul Finebaum takes another jab at Jim Harbaugh.

Paul Finebaum hasn't been shy about his feelings towards Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

Finebaum has called Harbaugh overrated on many occasions, and he hasn't been impressed with Harbaugh's work at Michigan so far.

After the news broke that Harbaugh planned to hire former Florida coach Jim McElwain as the Wolverines' offensive coordinator, Finebaum made an appearance on WJOX 94.5 in Birmingham. When he was asked if McElwain would be a good fit at Michigan, Finebaum once again took a jab at the Michigan coach.

"Well, I don't think there is a good fit with Jim Harbaugh," Finebaum said via SEC Country. "But I think McElwain needed to get a job, because he was completely forgotten about. ... I still think Jim McElwain is a good football coach. I just think he was a terrible fit for Florida, and I think he'll help Michigan. I don't think it would take much to restart the Michigan offense."

Michigan has had issues on the offensive side of the ball during Harbaugh's tenure, and part of the issue has been at quarterback. Harbaugh is hoping former Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson will be the answer to his offensive woes, and the pressure will be on Harbaugh as he enters his fourth year in Ann Arbor.

McElwain had a successful tenure at Alabama as the OC under Nick Saban, but his head coaching career was less successful. Florida parted ways with him during the 2017 season.

Michigan opens the season with a road game against Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 1.
