Former Alabama player to reportedly join Nick Saban's staff

Saban knows how to hire them.

Former Alabama defensive back Geno Matias-Smith was playing for the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent last season, but will be heading back to the college ranks this season. He has signed on as an off-the-field analyst for the Crimson Tide, according to 247Sports.

With Matias-Smith on board, he'll be at least the third former Alabama player under Nick Saban to join the staff in some capacity. Former linebacker Denzel Devall currently serves as the Director of Player Development where he was promoted in late February, and former safety Nick Perry is a graduate assistant.

He racked up 11 tackles in his last game as a member of the Crimson Tide against Clemson in the 2015 National Championship so he knows a thing or two about playing defense.
