Jamaal Charles' first season with the Denver Broncos hasn't produced the results either side expected.
Not only are the Broncos in the midst of a terrible 5-10 season, but Charles is also having the worst statistical season of his career.
It's been so bad that Charles actually said the team "might as well" release him before the season ends on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to the Denver Post.
"I ain't playing. Might as well," Charles said. "No reason for me to just sit around and look at people play. It is what it is. I'm still going to be supportive of everyone on the team no matter what. I mean, they got my rights right now."

It sounds like Charles wants to play for a playoff team, so he'd prefer to be released before the season ends. He'd go on waivers if he was released, and if no one claimed him, he'd be free to sign with anyone.
"At the end of the day, I just got to see what's the future for me. That's the next step," Charles said. "If it's somewhere else or if somebody wants to pick me up. That's the future. I want to play still. I turn 31 (Wednesday).
"I want to play. I feel like I never got a chance to show people that I can carry the load, so I still want to (show) that I can carry a team. I want an opportunity. That's all I want."
Charles has 296 yards and a touchdown this season, but he also has two fumbles. He's been stuck behind C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker on the depth chart.
There probably won't be much of a market for Charles if he is released. It seems like he doesn't have much left in the tank after a productive tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs.
