Shawn Murphy is one of the best overall players in the state of Virginia. The linebacker from the Class of 2022 attends Unity Reed High School in Manassas and he is a big reason why the football team has had sustained success. The school was previously named after Stonewall Jackson.
This Raiders team has some exceptional players. Murphy is a great player to build around at linebacker, but he shares a defense with four-star defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, who has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Shawn Murphy Recruiting
Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia are just some of the programs that have given the five-star MLB an offer.
Even though Murphy is in ACC country, Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide and Ed Orgeron’s Tigers seem to be in a good position to land him. Coach O has maintained a line of contact for the last few years, signaling that Murphy might try to sign with one of his favorite childhood teams.
The Buckeyes can’t be ignored, either. The weight of landing quarterback Quinn Ewers is enough to bring defensive players over, and they have been aggressive on the recruiting front recently. Murphy would play with four-star LB C.J. Hicks if he were to sign in Columbus, and of course, he’d have a familiar face on the defensive line.
Shawn Murphy Highlights
Shawn Murphy makes any football team better. The Raiders went 8-3 and reached the playoffs under his defensive leadership, so he is an integral part of this group’s success.
The next couple of years will be incredibly vital to his development. If Murphy can maintain his momentum and perform well in college football, then the NFL would be a realistic possibility for him. We have a long way to go to think about that, but Murphy has the talent to make it happen. His social media is full of his previous highlights.
College fans should be salivating at the chance to see Shawn Murphy in their favorite team’s uniform. For now, we have to wait until he makes a decision.
