Buccaneers coach jokes about trading one Aguayo for another

Coach might have been serious for a second here.

Florida State has been known to churn out the best kickers. Some prime examples include: Dustin Hopkins, Graham Gano, Sebastian Janikowskiand most recently, Roberto Aguayo. Aguayo has had some rough outings in the preseason and there was a boiling point after so many misses. The Bucs traded up to the second round to get the prolific kicker so there was a lot of pressure entering the season.

Aguayo finally seemed to get it figured out late in the preseason as he hit a 50-yarder in a mini-tropical storm against Washington. That hasn't stopped Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter from making jokes at the expense of his kicker though.

Koetter was asked about both Aguayo brothers after FSU freshman Ricky knocked in a school-record six field goals against Ole Miss on Monday night. He thought that was the time to mess with his own kicker.

"We told Roberto if he missed one more kick we were trading for his brother. I told him, 'Your brother is going to be the first one ever to leave Florida State early.' We're cutting Roberto and we're getting his brother."

Everyone at the press conference got a good chuckle out of it, but that might have been poor timing to mess with a young man's psyche. Either way, the Aguayo family has a ton of talent when it comes to kicking footballs through goal posts.
