San Francisco 49ers all-pro running back Christian McCaffery broke the franchise record for the most consecutive games with a touchdown. The record was previously held by legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice.
McCaffery has scored a touchdown in each of his past 13 games for the 49ers. The streak began in the 49ers Week 13 win over the Dolphins in 2022. Six minutes into the 49ers' game Week 4 game against the Cardinals, McCaffery rushed for a 1-yard touchdown to break the record that Rice had set during the 1987 season.

The record-breaking touchdown was only the beginning of a massive day for McCaffery. On the following drive, quarterback Brock Purdy tossed a swing pass to his dual-threat running back at the 25-yard line. McCaffery battled through a herd of defenders and took the short pass all the way to the end zone to give the 49ers a 14-point lead early in the second quarter.

On the next offensive drive, McCaffery also found his way to the end zone on a 6-yard carry.

McCaffery is now just one more game with a touchdown away from tying Emmit Smith's record for the longest streak of games with a touchdown. His four total touchdowns against the Cardinals was just one short of the 49ers franchise record for the most touchdowns in a single game, also currently held by Rice.
McCaffery was acquired by the 49ers in an early season trade from the Carolina Panthers last year. In the 19 games since the trade, McCaffery has scored 18 total touchdowns.
The 49ers beat the Cardinals 35-16 on Sunday and are now one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL along with the Eagles. Next week, San Francisco will face off against the Dallas Cowboys where McCaffery will look to tie Smith's record against his former team.
