Denver Broncos reportedly re-hire former head coach just months after resignation

Denver replaced Kubiak with former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

The Denver Broncos have reportedly re-hired former coach Gary Kubiak as a scouting advisor, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, Kubiak will remain in his native Houston, but will "pop in Denver for occasional meetings" during his new role.

Mike Klis of 9News in Denver reported that Kubiak is expected to analyze college prospects and help the Broncos during free agency.

Kubiak resigned as the Broncos' head coach in January due to long-term health concerns, but later revealed his interest in taking on a yet to-be-determined role in the future.

Kubiak, who led the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory after the 2015 season, experienced medical issues in 2016 during his second year with the franchise. He experienced a complex migraine condition that forced him to miss one game and to contemplate his future.

Kubiak also suffered a mini-stroke during his tenure as the Houston Texans' head coach in 2013.

Denver replaced Kubiak with former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who kept Kubiak's sons Klein (area scout) and Klint (offensive assistant) on his coaching staff.
