Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams just can't catch a break.
The veteran safety made his inspirational return to the football field on Monday night against the New York Giants, 385 days after a season-ending injury nearly ended his career. Adams was active for the Week 4 matchup on Monday Night Football, but just a handful of plays into his season debut, the Seahawks safety was forced out of the game to be evaluated for a concussion.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Adams was seen arguing with the NFL's unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant on the sideline before being escorted into the locker room to be properly evaluated.

It's not the return that Adams was hoping for after waiting to make his NFL comeback for over a year. The 27-year-old opened up and revealed that he even considered retiring after his leg injury in 2022.
Adams has been one of the league's most interesting safeties when healthy. A former sixth overall pick by the New York Jets back in 2017, Adams has racked up all kinds of accolades, including a 2019 first-team All-Pro selection, two second-team All-Pro selections, and three Pro Bowl appearances. The Seahawks safety also holds the record of sacks in a single season by a defensive back, picking up 9.5 back in 2020.
Although it's an unfortunate return to the field for Adams, the Seahawks will hopefully get their veteran safety back in the coming weeks. Seattle's secondary could use a veteran presence, but they already have a pair of very promising young cornerbacks in second-year corner Tariq Woolen and first-round rookie Devon Witherspoon.
In the meantime, the Seahawks will have to rely on the likes of Quandre Diggs and Julian Love to handle the safety positions, assuming that Adams misses any time. Fortunately for Seattle, the team has a bye week and won't play again until October 15 against the Bengals, giving Adams time to recover.
