It might have taken a quarter century, but Jerry Jones has finally come to his senses.
Prior to Sunday's Dallas Cowboys game in Carolina against the Panthers, Jones announced that Jimmy Johnson will finally be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor.
Johnson will become the 24th member of the Cowboys' Ring of Honor, when his name gets added to the rafters during Dallas' Dec. 30 showdown against the Detroit Lions.

Johnson is one of the most accomplished head coaches in Cowboys history, and will finally officially receive the overdue recognition he deserves from Jones, and the franchise.
The Cowboys' head coach from 1989 to 1993, Johnson led Dallas to back-to-back Super Bowl championships, and the team that he largely built made it a third when Barry Switzer guided the Cowboys to a Super Bowl win in 1996.
Both of Dallas' Super Bowl victories, with Johnson on the sideline, came over the Buffalo Bills. The Cowboys haven't returned to the Super Bowl since Switzer's victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Only Tom Landry and Jason Garrett have more career victories as the Cowboys' head coach than Johnson's 44, while Landry and Johnson are tied for the franchise record with two championships won.
Beyond his coaching prowess, Johnson was instrumental in acquiring the corps that made up the Cowboys' run of championship success in the 1990s, orchestrating 'The Great Trade Robbery' with the Vikings, in a trade that involved 18 different players and picks. Johnson and the Cowboys ultimately built a core of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin that became one of the most prolific in league history.
Johnson's elevation into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor comes on the heels of him being enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
