Alabama running back Josh Jacobs announced he will undergo surgery on Friday, revealing that he played on a broken ankle since Week 5 on Thursday via Twitter.
Jacobs was seen wearing a walking boot during the College Football Playoff National Championship media day last Saturday, but denied that it was for anything major.
The Tulsa native missed the first few weeks of his sophomore campaign due to a hamstring injury. Jacobs would later suffer an ankle injury against Tennessee on Sept. 21, which forced him to miss the remainder of the game. However, he was medically cleared to play two weeks later against LSU following a bye week.
Jacobs managed to appear in all of his remaining games, which included having six rushing attempts during all three of his final regular season matchups. He also recorded eight yards on three carries during Monday's national championship victory.
