LSU football gets a new weight room, and it's sweet

Things are looking up for LSU football with this new addition

Things are looking up for the Tigers. A no. 6 preseason ranking in the Coaches Poll, and now this—-a brand, spanking new addition to their weight room that looks like something out of Gillette Stadium.

The annex was unveiled to the players Wednesday night, just ahead of their first day of fall camp Thursday. Head coach Les Miles praised the finished product.

"...we took time this summer to expand our weight room and really have a beautiful kind of... more room, more ways to attack: speed, balance and conditioning," he told Nola.com, adding that some players worked out as the extension was being built. "Because of that, we didn't have that space. We built a log cabin and inside this cabin was all of our weight room. Our guys just went in there and went to work. They didn't care if it was plywood and they didn't care how it looked. It was a place that we needed to work hard this summer.

And it's a good thing. After last season's disappointing 9-3 (5-3) finish, the pressure will be on full throttle right out of the gate come September. Miles managed to escape the hatchet in the 11th hour, but anything less than an SEC title game appearance in 2016 will likely spell curtains for his 12-year run in Baton Rouge.
