Miami Heat star Chris Bosh suffers major setback to NBA return

This is awful news.

NBA All-Star and Miami Heat forward/center Chris Bosh has suffered a major setback in his attempted recovery from blood clots, according to the Miami Herald.

The complication involved evidence of some continued clotting and is believed to be related to one of two previous blood clot episodes. Those episodes sidelined Bosh after the All-Star break each of the past two seasons.

The Herald reports that the complications were noticed through blood work tests, and the AP is reporting that Bosh failed his team physical. Bosh needed clearance from the team before being able to return to the court.

Bosh was originally diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung back in February of 2015. That diagnosis ended his 2014-15 season, and he was able to recover in time for the start 2015-16 season. Bosh was able to play in 53 games before further complications ended his season early for the second consecutive year.

At this point, it appears that Bosh's career is in major jeopardy. The Heat had been very skeptical about allowing Bosh to return before the new clot was found, and this failed physical certainly won't help his case. At some point, he may be forced to retire if the problems continue to linger.

Bosh is an 11-time NBA All-Star, and a two-time NBA champion with the Heat. Bosh had re-signed with Miami two summers ago, where the Heat rewarded him with a five-year, $118 million contract.
