There is a new performer taking the stage in the middle of the Busch Light Clash and it may come as controversial to some of the NASCAR fanbase.
NASCAR has announced that Machine Gun Kelly will be performing at the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 4. MGK will be making his second appearance in the motorsports world in the past few months.
He was at the São Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil for the Formula 1 event. This appearance did come with some controversy. MGK was interviewed while on the grid with Sky Sports' Martin Brundle. There were some problems hearing and it created an awkward interview.
MGK did leave the event before the race and posted on social media, "My vibe is 'the worst' how? Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event? Because car engines were so loud I couldn't hear him? Please tell me more about why I'm the worst."
Even without that awkward interview occurring, this could still be seen as a controversial performer for the Busch Light Clash. Fans commented on NASCAR's post announcing MGK as the performer for the Busch Light Clash.

With NASCAR having the assumed demographic of older people in the South, the most popular music would lead itself to country. NASCAR is trying to get the younger generation to tune in and watch the race in hopes of getting them to become fans of the sport. Last year, Wiz Khalifa headlined the race break concert and there was not much controversy to it. It was actually welcomed by the fans.
Last year, 70% of the people in attendance were first time NASCAR race attendees. Khalifa, as the mid race break performer, may have had something to do with that and it will be interesting to see what those numbers are like this year with MGK performing.
Whether you like the decision or not, Machine Gun Kelly will be performing during the race break at the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles on Feb. 4.
