Whenever we attend sporting events, retrieving a souvenir — whether it's a home run ball, foul ball, a football thrown into the stands, or something else — can be a special experience for anyone.
However, there are times when we need to pump the brakes on that excitement. This happened in a recent incident involving a college baseball fan who, while holding his son, fell as he tried to retrieve a foul ball during a regional elimination game Sunday between Campbell and North Carolina State.
It happened during the seventh inning. North Carolina State Wolfpack third baseman LuJames Groover III was up to bat and hit a ball into foul territory. This caused fans, including the father holding the toddler, to scurry after the ball.
As the father reached for the ball, he lost his balance and fell. As you can see in the video below (viewer discretion advised), the little boy appeared to hit his head on the pavement.
By all accounts, the little boy seemed to be OK, and we sincerely hope he is.

The Wolfpack went on to lose 11-1 and ended their season.
So, let this be a PSA to all parents out there. If you're holding your infant child while at an event and have an opportunity to track down a foul ball, just don't bother. It's not worth it.
