Former champion reportedly in talks to return to WWE for first time in seven years

This would be a wonderful addition for WWE.

Looks like there really is no stopping him now.

Per Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, former Intercontinental champion Shelton Benjamin is again in talks to return to WWE. Benjamin was set to return last year to the SmackDown Live brand before an unforeseen injury derailed the negotiations. Benjamin revealed in March that he was fully recovered from the injury, yet still unsigned.

According to Satin, Benjamin would again be scheduled to go to SmackDown Live if a deal is agreed on.

Benjamin originally broke into wrestling with Brock Lesnar, as the two were originally part of the University of Minnesota amateur wrestling team. After debuting on WWE television in 2002, Benjamin quickly gained acclaim for his outstanding athleticism.

In his original run in WWE, Benjamin won the Intercontinental Championship three times, the tag team titles twice with Charlie Haas, and the U.S. Championship once. Benjamin was released from the company in 2010 as part of the company's mass-releases after that year's WrestleMania.
