In 2024, the Texas Longhorns will make their long-awaited debut in the Southeastern Conference, and the schedule is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in college football.
The SEC schedule is set to be released Wednesday night and, according to a report from Chip Brown of Horns247.com, it will include games such as the following:
- Texas at Texas A&M
- Texas at Arkansas
- Texas vs. Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas
- Georgia Bulldogs at Texas

Earlier this month, the SEC announced a one-year plan with just an eight-game conference schedule, spurring many discussions about the SEC wanting easier matchups. The complete 2024 schedule will be announced at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday, June 14, on the SEC Network broadcast.
"During this time of change, our fans will continue to enjoy traditional rivalries and begin to see new matchups presented by the addition of two historically successful football programs to the SEC," SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said earlier this month.
In addition to the games above, Texas will face off at home against Colorado State and the University of Texas at San Antonio, and will visit the Michigan Wolverines. As of now, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte, who favored a nine-game schedule, is on the hunt for a fourth non-SEC opponent.
The home game against Georgia could be massive for the program in terms of selling season ticket packages, as they'll be playing A&M and Arkansas on the road and the Red River Showdown at a neutral site.
Looking at the opponents above, here is how Texas has performed against them:
- Texas A&M: Texas leads the series 76-37-5.
- Arkansas: Last played on Sept. 11, 2021, and lost to the Razorbacks 40-21 on the road.
- Georgia: Faced off in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 2019. Texas won 28-21.
- Oklahoma: Faced off last season and defeated Oklahoma 49-0. Quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 21 of 31 passes for 289 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
- Michigan: Texas is 1-0 all time against Michigan, that lone game being the 2005 Rose Bowl.
This season could mark the end of Ewers' career at Texas, whether he goes onto the NFL or transfers. With Arch Manning behind Ewers, the Longhorns can't afford to sit Manning for a second season.
It appears that if Ewers starts all of 2023, Manning will have a memorable first season for the Longhorns as they head into the SEC.
