Former Clemson running back could be headed to ACC rival with transfer

That would be quite the dagger for Clemson.

Clemson running back Tyshon Dye announced a few weeks ago that he would be transferring out of the program. The move likely came about because of his precipitous drop down the depth chart. He fell behind freshman Tavien Feaster and redshirt sophomore C.J. Fuller who were already behind starter Wayne Gallman.

With those two backs looking to take over Gallman's snaps next year, the writing was on the wall for Dye and so he will find a new place to play. He was the No. 14 running back in the class of 2013 (according to 247Sports) and now he could be someone's top running back this coming season as he won't have to sit out because he is a graduate transfer.

According to Canesport, Miami offensive coordinator and running backs coach Thomas Brown contacted Dye and told him he had a spot with the Hurricanes if he wanted in. Dye told the website that he plans to speak with Mark Richt on Sunday and that ten schools have already offered him a scholarship including SMU, Indiana and Oklahoma.

Dye had 21 attempts for 109 yards and a touchdown this past season. In 2015, he had 91 rushing yards and two touchdowns over six games. For his career, he has 76 rushes for 351 yards and five touchdowns. If he decides to go to SMU he would be reuniting with his former offensive coordinator in Chad Morris.
