The WNBA is garnering more attention than ever these days and it's amazing to see. There is so much talent in the league right now. It deserves having more people paying attention to it.
However, with popularity comes nerves sometimes, and that was on full display during the 2018 Verizon WNBA All-Star Game at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the weekend.
Just watch the opening few seconds and try not to laugh.
It was pure chaos and hilarious. That's not meant to be negative, either, because mistakes happen at work all of the time, and it's always refreshing to see a glorified exhibition game have a little bit of a blunder every once in a while.
Once Diana Taurasi drilled that 3-pointer from the right wing, though, the game was legit.
Minnesota Lynx superstar Maya Moore won her third-straight All-Star Game MVP after leading Team Parker to a 119-112 victory over Team Delle Donne.
Moore, who became the all-time leading scorer in WNBA ASG history and the second player to become a three-time ASG MVP (Lisa Leslie), finished the night with 18 points, eight rebounds, and six assists on her home floor.
She wasn't the only star of the night, though.
The WNBA's experiment of ditching the East-West format to having team captains was a success, Chicago Sky's Allie Quiqley went bonkers and scored 29 in a shoot-off to win the 3-Point Contest, and Dallas Wings star became the sixth different player to throw down a dunk in the All-Star Game.
The WNBA also announced the 2019 All-Star Game will be in Las Vegas. The Aces have one of the best young players in the league in rookie and 2018 No. 1 overall pick A'Ja Wilson and Kayla McBride, and has a new fan in Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
Oh, and by the way, it was the highest-rated WNBA All-Star Game since 2015.
The WNBA is on the rise, for sure, and luckily it wasn't perfect so we could all have a little chuckle before seeing just how good the league is once more.
