The Rockets and Spurs squared off in a potential preview of the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. The Spurs came out on top with a 104-103 victory thanks to this game-winning block by the ageless wonder Tim Duncan on a driving James Harden.
Harden dribbled the clock down and tried attacking the rim as he’s done so many times, but when he extended his arm out — a move that he uses better than anyone to draw fouls — Tim Duncan took the bait and went for the block. The problem? Tim Duncan’s still crazy good (and that wingspan hasn’t gone anywhere).
The loss drops the Rockets out of a tie for 2nd with Memphis and into a tie with the Clippers for fourth. The win moves the Spurs into a third in the West behind Memphis. There’s still a lot to be figured out in the Western Conference playoff picture, and this did nothing but confuse the issue more.
