Three-time NBA champion puts LaVar Ball in his place with fiery shot after Lakers criticism

What LaVar Ball has done this season is to be expected.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton told reporters on Tuesday that he isn't concerned with what LaVar Ball thinks of how he coaches the Lakers. Another former Lakers coach had more ferocious words for the vocal father, via B/R:

"Shut up," Scott said when asked whether Ball needs to let current Lakers coach Luke Walton coach, per a Thursday story from TMZ Sports. "Stay put. Stay on the sidelines. We got this."

LaVar Ball, the father of Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, called the coaching staff "soft" and that they don't know how to coach his son. LaVar Ball added that he knows how to coach his son better because he'll tell him to just go out and get the win and to stop messing around.

Walton responded by saying that he puts "absolutely nothing" into what LaVar Ball said.

"I will say this: I think he has done a phenomenal job as a father with Lonzo because Lonzo is a special young man," Walton said. "He's selfless, he's unselfish, his teammates love him, he cares about them, he plays the right way. So he's done a great job with that, but we're not concerned with what parents think of how we're coaching the team."

Walton has said in the past that he will be patient with Lonzo Ball this season as he is still just a rookie and has to learn how to play at an NBA level. Ball has had an inconsistent season thus far. In 18 games, he is averaging 8.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.4 assists while shooting 30.8 percent from the field. While his stat line appears to be solid, he has dealt with shooting troubles this season and has been benched late in games.

What LaVar Ball has done this season is to be expected. He has made a name for himself through his outlandish comments and criticism and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
