The disappointment of losing the Houston Texans’ starting quarterback position to Brian Hoyer must have been exhausting for Ryan Mallett, because the next day he slept right through practice.
The backup QB missed Thursday’s practice because he overslept, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported. Mallett showed up later for the team meeting.
Mallett worked with the third-string offense during Friday’s practice, but the demotion was only temporary, according to coach Bill O’Brien via Around The NFL
After warming the bench in New England for three years, Mallet was traded to Houston last season and replaced starter Ryan Fitzpatrick , a 10-year veteran. He only started two games before a pectoral tear ended his season.
