Former NFL exec has tragically passed away at age 55

He helped lead the Ravens to the 2000 Super Bowl.

Former Baltimore Ravens president David Modell has passed away following a two-year battle with cancer, the team announced on Friday.

Modell, whose father owned the Cleveland Browns before moving them to Baltimore, was the team president from their inaugural season in Baltimore (1996) until 2004.

He was responsible for searching and targeting Brian Bilick before making a Super Bowl run in 2000. He also led the fan vote to name the team the Ravens.

He started working for the Browns when he was 14 years old and worked a variety of different jobs with his father's team through the years.

Our thoughts go out to the Modell family.
