Here’s how ridiculously well-paid an NFL punter is for one game
during their game at Lincoln Financial Field on October 27, 2013 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford was cut at the beginning of the season but got a call last week from the Jets, who needed a punter ASAP.

Weatherford was pinch-hitting for Ryan Quigley, who soon healed from an infection and then there was no longer a need for the former Giant. However, for his one game against the New England Patriots, the punter made $51,176. He kicked four times for 161 yards, which equals $317.86 per yard, $852.93 per minute and $12,794 per punt.

Not so bad for a day’s work, but Weatherford called it “a rough, rough day” and mentioned that he had only punted three times since being released by the Giants, according to Yahoo Sports.

Teams tend to cycle through kickers frequently, so there may be some more opportunities for Weatherford down the road.
