Here's the hit that reportedly gave Carson Wentz a fractured rib

That is a brutal hit of an unblocked blitz.

Carson Wentz had a bad day on Thursday. The rookie's NFL debut was marred by rough hits, poor play, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a fractured rib.

Ouch. Looking at the hit that likely caused that injury... ouch is definitely the right word. Wentz took a big hit early in the game from Javien Elliott, but it looks like an unblocked blitz late in the game from Bucs rookie Micah Awe is what injured the quarterback.

There is currently no timetable for Wentz's return to the field.

After a highly-hyped offseason, Wentz was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by Philadelphia in this year's NFL Draft. The North Dakota State product impressed scouts with his athleticism, and at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, he has an imposing frame when standing in the pocket. However, it looks like everything went wrong in his preseason debut, and he will have a lot of recovering to do before taking the next step in his professional career.
