"Trash" seems to be a popular word surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars. Either someone (or everyone) is describing quarterback Blake Bortles using that word, or All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is firing it off at some other team's signal caller.
Let's be clear about something here: Trash talk is awesome. Calling someone literal trash is funny. It's entertaining as hell. It's a way for fans to care about games for more than just results or the standings. It's essentially reality TV, and we get to watch how it pans out every Sunday.
But what happens when that talk backfires on you? It almost always does, and that's exactly what happened to Ramsey on Sunday. After the cornerback called out a number of the league's quarterbacks in a GQ article this past offseason, the Jaguars have lost to a couple of them — most recently Josh Allen, who he badmouthed the most.
Let's take a look at Ramsey running his mouth in a game between two 3-7 teams:
For context, this is what Ramsey said about Allen back in August:
"I think [Josh] Allen is trash. I don't care what nobody say. He's trash. And it's gonna show too. That's a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I'm excited as hell. I hope he's their starting quarterback. He played at Wyoming. Every time they played a big school—like, they played Iowa State, which is not a big school in my opinion because I went to Florida State, and he threw five interceptions, and they lost by a couple touchdowns or something like that. He never beat a big school. If you look at his games against big schools, it was always hella interceptions, hella turnovers. It's like: Yo, if you're this good, why couldn't you do better? He fits that mold, he's a big, tall quarterback. Big arm, supposedly. I don't see it, personally."
If he didn't see it by halftime, maybe he saw by the end of the game. The clip came just before the half ended, and the Bills went on to beat Ramsey and the Jags, 24-21. The Bills couldn't help themselves from clowning Ramsey after the game.
They even had one saved in the drafts ready to go:

Allen completed just 8 of 19 pass attempts but threw for 160 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-5 former Wyoming Cowboy also rushed for a ridiculous 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Allen didn't take the bait when asked about Ramsey or his comments during his postgame press conference, which makes sense considering he's a rookie who hasn't done a whole lot in the league yet.
But one established quarterback Ramsey also slandered, Andrew Luck, took down Jacksonville as well just three weeks ago. Luck passed for 285 yards and three touchdowns in the Colts' 29-26 win.
He also put himself in some pretty decent company that game.
Shall we revisit Ramsey's thoughts on Luck, too?
"I don't really think he's that good. Him and T.Y. [Hilton] had a connection in the past that made him stand out a little bit more, but I don't think he's good."
For those counting at home, that's one "trash" quarterback and one "not good" quarterback that have beaten the Jaguars this season. Jacksonville is also riding a seven-game losing streak. Ramsey likely won't face the "overrated" Matt Ryan or the "sucky" Joe Flacco because the Jaguars don't play them and probably won't make the playoffs.
Maybe Ramsey will rethink trashing dudes when his own secondary can't even stop them. But because the football gods show no mercy, Andrew Luck gets a chance to repeat his performance this Sunday in Jacksonville at 1 p.m. Get your popcorn ready.
