Jameis Winston Undergoes LASIK Surgery to Repair Vision

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is truly one of a kind. It takes a special player to lead the NFL in completions and passing yards, throw for a career-high in touchdown passes, and somehow still lead the league in interceptions. That's what he accomplished last season, but even better days might be on the horizon.

Since his college football career at Florida State, Winston's eyesight has been well-documented. His nearsightedness is no secret, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, and even Bucs head coach Bruce Arians talked about it again during his final press conference before the offseason.

"He can't read the scoreboard but he can see the guys in front of him," Arians said. "So he's all right."

After throwing for over 5,000 yards and starting the rare club of throwing 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions last year — the first quarterback to do that in NFL history — the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is going into next season with new vision... literally.

Jameis Winston Undergoes LASIK Eye Surgery

Someone getting LASIK surgery is not uncommon. It happens all of the time. But it's not every day that a starting quarterback in the NFL has it done after he just played his fifth season in the league.

Winston is an unrestricted free agent and perhaps this gives him a chance to return to Tampa Bay or get another big deal with a different team.

"Jameis did not want to count out any options that he had that could possibly help him with the game he loves so much. He doesn't want to miss out on any opportunity that presents itself. This is the game he loves and he wants to be the best at it and if there are any options that can improve his game he is willing to do it.''

Only time will tell what free agency will bring. There's another big names like Tom Brady and Philip Rivers available, too. But with repaired vision, who knows how good Winston can actually be.
