Peyton Manning and Eli Manning are more than just Super Bowl Champion quarterbacks who played for the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos and New York Giants, collectively. They're brothers and sons of the NFL great Archie Manning. Everyone knows this.
Incidentally, they're also pretty damn funny. Peyton's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in which he drilled little kids with footballs will leave you in stitches. Eli's "Dirty Dancing" Super Bowl commercial with Odell Beckham Jr. was timeless. The two siblings have done plenty of commercials and skits side-by-side, like this totally-not-cringeworthy rap music video.
Back in 2011, the Manning Brothers teamed up for the greatest TV appearance you've never heard of.

This almost seemed like an April Fool's joke when it aired.
During the summer of 2011, DirecTV released a sneak peek into "Football Cops," which was a new cop drama starring Peyton and Eli set to air in the fall that year, per ESPN. For whatever reason, it never panned out. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it turned out to be a promotion for NFL Sunday Ticket.
We were still left with this tremendous teaser in which Peyton and Eli Manning KILL BAD GUYS WITH FOOTBALLS. That part itself is hilarious and here's just a short list of what else you can expect from this wild video:
- Eli Manning, as officer C.J. Hunter, takes down a gun-wielding criminal by firing a pass into his chest. (Are we sure Eli could throw that hard?)
- Eli and Peyton Manning, starring as officer Mike Tahoe, take down a bunch of bad guys in a car garage. Apparently, footballs are more lethal than machine guns.
- Their father, Archie Manning, stars as the police chief.
- During a "two-minute drill" to stop a bad guy, Eli throws a pass that misses him but shatters his glass of alcohol. Peyton then fires a strike that knocks a cigar out of his hands, setting him on fire. Yes, on fire.
As if it couldn't get any better, the final lines are amazing:
"I guess nobody told him that justice was a team sport," Peyton says.
"What does that mean?" Eli asks.
"He knows what it means," Peyton responds.
Bravo, DirecTV. This was the company's "about" section for the "show":
"Peyton and Eli Manning star in this action-packed drama about two former pro football players who bring their unique brand of law enforcement to one of the country's toughest neighborhoods. Mike Tahoe (Peyton Manning) was living the dream as a big league quarterback, until a personal tragedy brought him back to the mean streets of his childhood. Both grew up together as orphans in a home for wayward boys. Both overcame the odds to become huge sports stars. Now both are the only hope for the rugged streets they once again call home."
I would have made a few adjustments. The final boss should've been longtime playoff nemesis New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Cooper Manning and his son, Arch Manning, need roles of some sort as well.
Either way, Netflix needs to revive this TV show because it would be a freakin' hit.
