Big hits lead to punches between Jets and Blackhawks

The action came hard and fast Friday night between the Winnipeg Jets and the Chicago Blackhawks.  The first period was a very physical and emotionally tense affair between two teams separated by only four points in the Central Division standings.  It all started with a hard, clean hit from the Blackhawks’ Bryan Bickell that the Jets’ Anthony Peluso took exception to.  Peluso would come after Bickell hard earning himself both instigator and misconduct penalties.

Emotions would stay high as later in the period the Jets’ Jim Slater tracked down Patrick Kane and sent him hard into the boards.  That didn’t sit well with Brent Seabrook who immediately took on Slater.  It was a very violent and entertaining first period.  After things settled down both teams would continue to play a very entertaining game of hockey and the Jets (24-14-8) would get a big win over the Blackhawks (28-14-2), 4-2.
