Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was on pace for a career year with 27 goals and 64 points in 61 games before suffering a fractured left clavicle that has sidelined him since February 24. Originally Doctors said that Kane would be out between 8 and 12 weeks, with a target return date of late May/early June.
Now reports are coming out that Kane may be cleared for contact Monday and be ready to play in game one of Chicago’s series with the Nashville Predators Wednesday.
Considering the original prognosis surrounding Kane, his returning this early could be a real boost to the Blackhawks’ offense. It does raise questions however about just how ready Kane truly is. You have to assume that Chicago wouldn’t risk the health of one of their best players, but players want to play and this is the playoffs. Hopefully Chicago and Kane handle this well and do what is right for Kane’s future, not just for the present.
